  2. Add a way to automatically go to the beginning of the line to add the time code

I already have my text transcribed and translated in Word (I need the special characters), and it's a pain to have to manually place the cursor at the beginning of each line to insert the timecode. It would also be great to have a space after the timecode:
eg: {01:00:25.22} Ed: Speaking of horses...
Right now it's: {01:00:25.22}Ed:Speaking of horses.

Thanks for writing in the request! We don’t currently support automatic timecodes every xx seconds because words would get jumbled, coming out like th[00:00:11.11]is. So, your suggestion could provide a neat solution. We will consider it for a future InqScribe update.

Note that you can lay down timecodes every xx seconds before you start typing. Read how in our Knowledge Base: http://support.inqscribe.com/knowledgebase/articles/22885-can-i-automatically-insert-a-timecode-in-a-series

We also offer some general timecode insertion tips here: http://support.inqscribe.com/knowledgebase/articles/171934-can-i-automatically-insert-timecodes-at-regular-ti

  4. make Inqscribe available in other languages.

Wouldn't it make sense to have Inqscribe available in languages other than english? (I mean the menu items and commands).

  5. add quick look functionality to inqscribe files

I'd like to be able to use the Quick Look feature of osx to see at least the text contents of inqscribe files at a glance in the finder.

  6. Check that each caption line is less than a maximum width

When making captions, you currently have to guess and see if your caption is actually going to fit in the allocated space, through trial and error. It'd be great to be able to determine a standard width and have InqScribe automatically set the window width so you could see if you're going to break the caption line without having to repeatedly export and scroll through the entire movie.

  7. auto scroll in program (not just export)

I work in concert lighting and just started using Inqscribe to track how we cue our songs. I'll have music with timecode embedded, play it back, and then insert timecode stamps at the different parts of the song where I need something to happen (verse 1, guitar player xright, etc...). It would be really useful to have inqscribe auto scroll your transcript section on the right so that as a song is playing, I can look over and see my notes for that particular part of a song, and not have to scroll to the particular part of the page…

  9. Support exported transcripts that contain images of each time-stamped frame

Creates an exported transcript that inserts a still image of each timestamped frame.

  10. add live statistics of transcription progress

I need to be motivated! 50 hours of audio to transcribe leaves me a bit overwhelmed. It would be great to have an optional window that shows things like my current # words transcribed per minute, my total # transcribed words and # minutes completed so far today, and other days this week (and the record to beat!), and a monthly progress chart. This should be really simple to implement, but could really make a difference in my work awareness and motivation.

  11. Automatic Play+Pause+Skipback

It could be useful to have a second kind of playback speed control, that works only with the pause and the rewind functions, instead of really slowing down the speed of playback. I'm thinking of something like this: I click play and, after 10 seconds of playback, InqScribe automatically pauses for 5 seconds, then it starts the playback again; then, after other 10 seconds it pauses again for 5 seconds, and so on, looping this process until I manually click stop or pause. (The values in seconds are given only for example: I imagine that they would be customizable through…

  12. allow a shortcut that switches volume balance (one for right, one for left, one for middle)

This would help us tremendously in transcription of video where there are two audio channels and we want to catch what's happening in both

  13. add styled text support

Add support for styles like bold and italic, along with custom font colors and varying fonts and font sizes.

  14. Batch update for file locations

Different users have the same file stored in different locations. Currently, we have to relocate each file one by one as we re-open transcripts. It would be so much easier to have a batch update function, or a default directory option that can be updated and affect all transcripts.

  15. add a spell checker

On OS X, we'd use the built-in spell checker. For Windows, we're looking at several options, and are currently leaning towards hunspell, an open-source project with support for several languages. The Open Office project also uses hunspell.

  16. Add VLC Player as an optional media player for InqScribe

Quicktime doesn't play audio for HD MPEGs & often the audio gets out of sync with the video in other formats. VLC has fewer problems with this stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion. We’re currently working on revamping InqScribe’s media engine, and VLC support is a possibility. For more about InqScribe’s future, head over to our blog: http://blogs.inquirium.net/inqscribe/2014/03/retiring-quicktime/

    Fun fact:
Currently, VLC Player cannot be used to control media in InqScribe, but did you know you can view your exported subtitles in VLC Player? More in our Knowledge Base here: http://support.inqscribe.com/knowledgebase/articles/422681-how-do-i-import-my-subtitles-into-vlc-player

  17. button to pause for n seconds, then skipback and continue playback

Simple: I'm transcribing the audio; the speaker then accelerates, so I press a customizable key and InqScribe pauses for 3 seconds (giving me the time to digit what I've lost), then automatically restart playback, only skipping back 1 second just to help me "realignining" with the next words.

  18. insert a cancel button in shortcuts/snippets window

Especially in the shortcuts window, if I modify a parameter of a shortcut, the change is immediately saved and it can't be undone. Having a Cancel button aside the Done button would be useful.

  19. let me use InqScribe to control playback in the background

So I can type in Word or some other application, and use the foot pedal to control playback.

  20. error box needs keyboard support and non cryptic alert messages (media not in expected folder error)

Blind users can't interact with media not found errors via the keyboard and these errors are in cryptic hexadecimal rather than English.
