We have received occasional reports of gray bars appearing in transcripts. This appears to happen occasionally for Windows XP users who have low amounts of RAM, and usually when a number of other applications are running simultaneously.

The cause of the issue appears to be low memory. Under such conditions, InqScribe has difficulty refreshing the transcript window.

There are two ways to remedy this issue:

1. Turn off the “Color Timecodes” feature, which is found under InqScribe’s Preferences/Options

2. If possible, close some other applications that may be running in the background.

Both these steps should free up some memory for InqScribe, and mitigate the grey bar issue. The best remedy is to ensure your system has adequate memory for your desired uses.
